Recently, the Cultural Bonding Society (CBS) hosted an interesting event themed around New Zealand culture. Under the guidance of Teacher Rachael, students made handicrafts together and had the opportunity to fully experience the rich and vibrant culture of New Zealand. 首先，Rachael 老师通过实物与精彩的视频，向我们展示了新西兰的poi球，引发了同学们的浓厚兴致。要知道，新西兰Poi球，亦称毛利Poi，乃是源自新西兰毛利族的传统表演道具。于今时，Poi球不单留存了其传统的文化意涵，更发展成了一种新兴的表演艺术。
First, Rachael showed us New Zealand's poi balls through real objects and fascinating videos, sparking the students' great interest. The New Zealand poi ball, also known as the Māori poi, is a traditional performance prop originating from the Māori tribe of New Zealand. Today, the poi ball not only preserves its traditional cultural significance, but has also evolved into a form of contemporary performance art.
接着，Rachael老师激励我们施展自身的动手能力——DIY专属自己的poi球。同学们先是运用不同色彩的毛线编织成麻花状，随后大家把毛球捏成团状，用塑料纸裹住，并牢牢系在麻花绳上。在此过程中，大家欢声笑语不断，相互帮衬、分工协作。在Rachael老师的指导下，众人成功地DIY出了属于自己的poi球。
Then, Rachael encouraged us to put our hands to work and DIY our own poi balls. Students first wove yarn of different colours into a braid, and then each person shaped the yarn into a ball, wrapped it in plastic, and firmly tied it to the braided rope. Throughout the process, laughter and chatter filled the air as everyone worked together and helped one another. Under the guidance of Rachael, we successfully made our own poi balls.
最后，大家凭借自己的poi球，学习了一种全新的表演艺术。每位同学都在娱乐之中收获满满。借由这次与外教的互动，大家不光提升了自己的动手能力，还增强了自身的英语表达能力，同时也被新西兰的文化深深吸引。
Finally, everyone learned a new form of performance art using their poi balls. Each student had a great deal of fun and gained much from the activity.Through this interaction with the international teacher, everyone not only improved their practical skills but also enhanced their English communication skills and developed a deep appreciation for New Zealand's culture.
