On the windy and sunny early winter morning, the students ushered in the English Club on November 30th 2023, which is a memorable activity. This activity arranged the friendly communication between students and foreign teachers and the improvement of English level.

At the beginning, Mr. Huang let the students learn the English romantic poet William Wordsworth’s work I Wander Alone like a Cloud. The calm and peaceful mood and quiet and beautiful nature revealed between the lines deeply shocked the students’ hearts. The poem showed the communication between man and nature, and the poet found the childlike innocence in it. A glimpse of eternal life. Then, Mr. Huang took out many rare pictures of beautiful flowers, each of which has its own artistic conception and natural beauty. The teacher asked the students to choose a picture and describe the reason why they liked it. At the end of the activity, the students drew the garden in their mind. They talked and collaborated with each other to draw the beautiful garden in each other’s mind. In order to retain this wonderful time, Teacher Huang took photos of the students’ works and the authors. This activity not only improved the children’s English level, but also purified their souls.

The early winter sun gently paved the earth with a layer of warmth, and the cross-cultural exchange meeting on November 30 began on this beautiful morning. Students travel through time in poems and photos to feel and experience the natural and human landscape of Britain.

The poet Wordsworth used wonderful poems to freeze the beauty of daffodils. Through the teacher’s detailed explanation, those vivid descriptions left the students a space for daydreaming. Wandering in the extended time and space of poetry, everyone is eager to join in and say what they think and feel.

In addition, through the two-gardening works, we have an in-depth understanding of British garden culture, and the clear pictures in the book provide a lot of references for everyone to imagine the garden in their minds. At the end of the activity, everyone drew the ideal garden scene on paper.

This cross-cultural exchange will allow students to see a lot of natural scenery in the UK, but also broaden the knowledge of garden culture, and truly achieve the edutainment.
