Robot Development Club is a co-curricular interest club set up by Hertfordshire College, CIT for students majoring in EEE, RAI and ME. With Leju Aelos robot as the carrier, involving artificial intelligence, sensor and other technologies, students can understand the basic knowledge of robot technology, robot mechanical technology, sensor detection, drive and control technology, and classic cases in performing of special tasks. The size of the club is about 30 people. In addition to daily training, club members also need to learn and practice using Raspberry Pi, ROS (Robot Operating System), Open CV image processing and other skills.
The club organises students to participate in the Ruikang Robot Developer Competition. In the 2023 competition, a total of three teams from this club participated in the competition, one team won the national first prize, and two teams won the provincial prize. At the same time, the club supports students to explore their favourite fields after completing the existing learning tasks, such as: human-computer interaction system, unmanned navigation system, etc.
To take part in the RobotMaster University Series, the FA team was formed and it was made up of 3 groups, the mechanical group, the electronic control group and the vision group. The mechanical group drew the drawings using the relevant software and used the machining equipment to manufacture the relevant parts. The electrical control group is responsible for writing embedded programs to drive the robot to realise the related functions of control and communication. The vision group is responsible for developing the robot’s vision and helping the robot to recognise the target.
Through the competition work of these three groups to design and build a fully autonomous robot for the robotics competition.
