In order to inspire students’ interest in English learning, improve their practical English proficiency, intercultural communication competence, innovation ability and team spirit, Hertfordshire College established Association for Intercultural Communication (AIC). This association regularly organises activities with native English speaker teachers and students on various themes, aiming at encouraging students to confidently express themselves in an all-English environment and to communicate effectively and appropriately in various cultural contexts.
The association is a dynamic organization, on the basis of making full use of international resources inside and outside the college, to carry out a variety of international exchange activities, so as to promote international exchange programs, develop international friendships, and improve students' cross-cultural competence. The basic purpose of the association is to enrich the campus cultural life and serve the growth of students. It makes full use of students' spare time to carry out foreign language learning, academic science and technology, hobbies and social welfare activities in an organized and creative way. In accordance with the requirements of self-education, self-management and self-service, highlighting the ideological, academic, intellectual, and interesting, we strive to build an elegant and upward campus culture, improve the comprehensive quality of students, and serve the healthy growth and all-round development of students. The Association will encourage students to actively participate in various international activities, boldly share their own culture, language and experience, and also gain an in-depth understanding of the cultural background of other countries and regions. The association will organize various activities, including international cultural festivals, language corners, study abroad sharing sessions, etc., aiming to enhance students' understanding of different cultures in the world, so as to break down cultural barriers and build friendship and cooperation. In addition, the association provides students with the opportunity to participate in international volunteer projects, serve the community, enhance global responsibility, and become internationally competitive talents.
