This course provide experience in the design and development of robotics systems, from the initial hardware design and development, to writing and implementing advanced AI software to enable robots to accomplish tasks in the real world. The CDIO framework has been embedded into programme, ensuring you’ll put into practice what you learn through “Design and Build” projects during your studies. The course content includes a number of practical Project based modules, during every year of study, along with necessary input from the other modules studied at each level.
The first year is foundation year, focus on Improvement of English language skills.
In your second year, you will design, build and program your own small mobile robot, which will be supported by modules including Introduction to Robotics, Principles of Digital Electronics and Computing, Programming, Maths for AI and Professional Engineering.
In your third year, you will deepen your theoretical knowledge, studying modules such as Mechatronics, Robot Sensors and Signal Processing, AI, Behavioural Robotics, Robotic Operating Systems, Embedded Systems Design and applying this in the year two project modules.
In your final year, you will undertake a more in-depth study of Machine Learning, 3D Computer Vision, Visual and Spoken interfaces, Robot Communication, Industrial Robotics, Mobile Robots and Drones, Robot Systems Design, Robot Product Design, AI Theory and Application, Human-Robot Interaction, etc. deepening your theoretical understanding, and gaining experience of applying this in practical robotics and AI systems.
