On the morning of August 10, Hertfordshire College launched the online opening ceremony of the English Summer Camp, a well-designed effort to induct the freshmen 2023 into collegiate studies and broaden their international horizons as soon as possible. Moderated by Associate Dean Kim Jin, the online ceremony was attended by Dean Wendy Wang, UH Executive Dean Felix Zhu, Head of English Language Centre April Huang, Personal Tutor Liu Guotai and class assistants along with all freshmen of the 2023 cohort.
Dean Wendy Wang addressed the opening ceremony, explaining in detail the values of the College which are abbreviated to FACES (Friendly, Ambitious, Collegiate, Enterprise and Student-focused), and expressing sincere wishes and expectations to all freshmen. Felix Zhu, Executive Dean from the British side, also extended welcome to freshmen via video and wished them success in their studies.
The English Summer Camp for the freshmen 2023 will last for three weeks. In addition to basic English language learning, it also covers the comparison of Chinese and Western cultures, classic literary works, etc. After the summer camp, the College will continue with more activities in diversified forms, with a view to improving the overall quality of students and helping them grow better.
